Event Description
This three-hour presentation will begin with a discussion of how aging affects select areas of occupational performance, performance skills, performance patterns and client factors, and explores how unique contexts influence older adults’ occupational performance. We will explore emotional states frequently experienced by older adults and the universal structures that can help us better understand clients’ distress and challenging behaviors. Specific techniques to manage difficult situations will be provided. Concepts from the existential humanistic frame of reference will be introduced to further participants’ understanding of older adults’ occupational performance and to remind all participants of the joys of client-centeredness.
