In today’s fast-paced health system, it is difficult to practice core occupational therapy principles to their fullest. Responsive occupational therapy must update intervention to meet the needs of clients with evolving abilities and needs. This workshop explores strategies to integrate the philosophical base of the profession into routine evaluation and treatment. Specifically, approaches that build on the client’s meaning and purpose in life are identified. Recent research at the National Institutes of Health uncovered a Functional Adaptation Model, which will be used as a framework to explore innovative evaluation and intervention.
